Lunch
Lunches should be brought to the school in a lunchbox clearly marked with the child’s name. A nutritious, well-balanced lunch is important not only to a child’s physical growth but also to a child’s social adjustment as well. Please make sure that enough food is included in your child’s lunch to provide a healthy balance of the food groups. Any uneaten food will be sent home to help parents determine appropriate amounts for their children. Discovery Montessori observes a “low sugar” policy (sugar listed as a fifth ingredient or lower) in the interest of the children’s health and behavior.
For a nominal fee, parents may purchase lunch in advance from our hot lunch vendor, The Lunch Mob. Each day they cater a balanced and nutritious hot lunch for the children.
The school provides milk and water during lunchtime for all the children.
On the child’s enrollment form there is a place to list any food allergies that he or she may have. Parents must detail these and any other conditions or food preferences so that the staff can act accordingly.

Snacks
The school provides a snack in the morning at 9:30 am and in the afternoon at 3:15 pm. Each snack will include two of the following food groups:
Milk or dairy
Fruit or vegetables
Meat or protein substitute
Bread or equivalent
Parents are welcome to pack a snack for their child and we will ensure the food is offered during snack time. If necessary, the school will supplement any snack in order to meet the nutritional requirements listed above.

PM: Crackers, String Cheese, Fresh Fruit, Water
Friday
AM: Bagels, Cream Cheese, Milk
PM: Turkey & Cheese Wrap, Carrot Sticks, Water

The deadline to order or to make changes is 12:00pm two (2) calendar days prior to service. A 70% credit is available for cancellations received by 7:00am day of service. Emergency lunches are offered on day of service and must be ordered no later than 7:00 am (limited items.)
